Sunday School Update

Alhamdulilah, We’ve finished a great semester in the ISGL Sunday School!

Please note that school is now ended and will begin again on

Sunday, January 12 at 9:30 a.m.

New registrations and tuition payments will be accepted starting 9:00 am on that day.

New parents, please visit our school registration page: for more information and documents to fill out for registration.

(We highly encourage you to send this information to so that we can begin to place your children in their new classes.)

In addition, A GIANT THANK YOU to our staff for all their hard work and our community members who have supported our school through the food sale and donations! In December, we have raised over $1000 for our school from the community.

Sunday School Book Fair

As Salaam Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh,

 Orders will be available for pick-up at Sunday School approximately 1-2 weeks after the last day of the Online Book Fair.

Eid Mubarak

Eid-ul-Adha will be on Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Eid prayer will begin at 8:30 AM SHARP and be held at the Purdue Recreational Sports Center (Co-Rec) Gold & Black Gymnasium Courts 1-3 (Address: 355 Martin Jischke Dr  West Lafayette, IN 47907). Community members can park in the parking lot located behind the Co-Rec (use the entrance from Stadium Avenue). Purdue Parking Services is permitting us to use this parking lot for no charge. Please enter the gymnasium using the Northwest Entrance (follow the signs posted outside the Co-Rec)! Community members are kindly requested to bring a breakfast item to share at the Eid-ul-Adha Community Breakfast which will be held at the Co-Rec immediately after the Eid khutbah/sermon concludes.

Annual ISGL Membership Drive

Becoming part of the ISGL General Assembly (GA) by completing a membership application form. By becoming an ISGL voting member, you play an integral role in important community decisions from electing EC Board members to the organization of community activities and programs.  Membership Application forms and fees must be submitted by Oct 1st 2013 to become or maintain  ISGL voting member status for 2013-2014.

Required Membership Fees:

Family (Non Student): $50 Family (Student): $25

Single (Non Student): $35 Single (Student): $15

1- Completed Membership Application forms with fees may be dropped off in the donation box in the ISGL small prayer hall.  Please use specially labeled envelopes provided and make sure to write your name on the envelope.  Forms are available at the masjid or Click Here to print.

2- Click Here to submit your membership application online.  Use the PayPal Donate link above to pay your membership fees.  Please write “Membership Fee” in the box labeled “Add special instructions to the seller,”    You may also place your fees in the specially provided envelops and drop in the donation box at the masjid.  Please make sure to write your name on the envelope.



Eid Carnival & Dinner


Eid Dinner & Carnival- Saturday, August 17th at Battle Ground Middle School.
The Eid Carnival will include many fun games for children of all ages  including football toss, an obstacle course, bounce houses, photo booth, and much more! The activities will take place from 5-7 PM in the  Auxiliary Gymnasium.
The Eid Dinner will take place from 7-9 PM in the Main  Gymnasium. Food will be catered in shaa Allah and includes chicken  biryani, butter chicken (chicken makni), and Turkish meatballs (kofta).

Children will be entertained by a skilled balloon twist artist. A  ticket is required for the dinner. Tickets cost $7/person and can be  purchased after Dhuhr/Jumm’ah prayer and after Isha prayer on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week at the masjid. Tickets for the dinner can also be purchased from any EC Board member. The final day to purchase  tickets is Friday, August 16th.



Eid Ul-Fitr Announcement:

Eid Mubarrak!  Eid Ul-Fitr will be on Thursday August 8th

Takbarret will start at 7:45 a.m.

Eid Salat will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m.

Eid Salat will be held at Harrison High School in the Auxilliary Gymnasium. (Please note, this is a change from previous Eid Salat) 

Harrison High School is located 5701 N. 50 W  West Lafayette, IN

There is a circle drive at the entrance of the high school where community members can drop off family members near the entrance of the gym (Entrance #4).  Please park in the designated parking lots near the main office of the high school.  Entrance #4 (on the circle drive) is the ONLY entrance that should be used to enter the school!

Community Potluck Breakfast (Please bring a dish in a disposable dish) will be held in the cafeteria on the main floor of Harrison High School at the conclusion of the Eid Khutbah.  Signs will be posted in the hallways to direct guests from the gym to the cafeteria for breakfast.


Annual ISGL Fund Raiser Dinner

The ISGL Annual Fundraiser Iftar will be on Saturday, July 27th starting at 9 PM at the YWCA of Greater Lafayette. Tickets are required for admission to the event. No tickets will available for purchase at the event. Tickets can be purchased from any EC Board member and cost:

  • $5 for singles and $20 for families (if purchased by 7/19/13)
  • The price increases to $10 for singles and $30 for families starting July 20, 2013

Ramadan Kareem

 Ramadan 1434 (2013)

  • Ramadan will start on Weds. July 10th!
  • The  first night of taraweeh prayer will be Tuesday, July 9th.

First Day of Fasting

The ISGL Moonsighting Committee did not receive a verifiable report of the moon being sighted this evening either locally or internationally. Based upon this information, the first day of fasting for Ramadan will be Wednesday, July 10th in shaa Allah. Attached is a calendar of adhan times for prayers for the month of Ramadan. Please note that Fajr adhan time refers to the end of suhoor (time to start fasting) and Maghrib adhan time refers to the start of the iftar (time to break the fast).

Iqama Times for Prayers at the ISGL

During the month of Ramadan at the ISGL: – Fajr prayer will be held 10 minutes after the adhan, – Maghrib prayer will be 5 minutes after the adhan, – Isha prayer will be fixed each week. For this week, Isha prayer will start at 11:05 PM. – Taraweeh prayer will start 5 minutes after the conclusion of Isha in shaa Allah. The first night of taraweeh prayer will be on Tuesday, July 9th.
